In the Briefing Room, Rob Mechanic, senior fellow at the Heller School at Brandeis University, joined to discuss Governor Patrick's new proposal to contain the Commonwealth's escalating health care costs.
In the show's final segment, Dan O'Connell, president of the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership, joined to discuss Governor Patrick's upcoming trade missions to Israel and Britain. He'll be joining the governor for the 10-day trip early next month and talks with Paul and Mike about the goals of the missions.

More than 600 Chamber members attend Government Affairs Forum with Governor Patrick
This morning, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick addressed more than 600 Chamber members at a Government Affairs Forum at the InterContinental Hotel. Governor Patrick focused on phase two of health care reform in the Commonwealth: payment reform and cost control. The Governor called on members of the business community to get involved in the coversation and unveiled a new proposal that shifts from the current fee-for-service systems and moves toward global payments. The Governor said he is filing legislation this week.

Recap of Today's Best Practices Seminar: "Digital Strategies to Build Your Brand"
More than 70 Chamber members got an early start to their day this morning at the Metro Meeting Center for the Chamber's Best Practices Seminar. "Digital Strategies to Build Your Brand" was led by Stephanie Rogers and Mike Kirkpatrick, both Senior Directors with PARTNERS + Simons. The seminar covered web design, social media, mobile applications, and local media - or "SoLoMo" as our presenters put it.

Boston Business Editors discuss President Obama's address to the US Chamber on 'This Week in Business'
Yesterday on This Week in Business, Boston Business Editors George Donnelly of the Boston Business Journal, Frank Quaratiello of the Boston Herald, and Michael Warshaw of the Boston Globe joined hosts Paul Guzzi and Mike Nikitas to discuss President Obama's address to the US Chamber of Commerce. NYT CEO Janet Robinson addresses the Chamber
Yesterday, New York Times Company president & CEO Janet Robinson spoke to the Chamber's Women's Network. In front of an audience of more than 300 Chamber members at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, Robinson shared her professional journey and spoke about the changing media landscape. She also discussed her tenure at the Times and changes being made this year to institute a paid online content model. Robinson gave her thoughts on leadership and urged audience members not to just think vertically about things in their organizations, but to think horizontally, as well.

State Senate votes not to increase unemployment insurance premiums 'On the Record'
