Japan Airlines to Offer Nonstop Air Service Between Boston and Tokyo

Chamber welcomes service, applauds efforts by city and state leaders

The Chamber and the business community welcome the decision by Japan Airlines, together with its partner American Airlines, to begin nonstop air service between Boston and Tokyo next year. The Chamber applauds the significant efforts by Massport, Governor Patrick, and Mayor Menino in helping to secure this service which will fill an important need for many travelers in the Greater Boston region, particularly those in leading industries such as high tech, life sciences, health care, and education.

Until now, Boston was the second largest U.S. market without direct air service to Tokyo, as well as the largest U.S. market without service to other key cities in Asia. These flights will not only make it easier for tourists to travel between the two cities, but will bring wider economic benefits as well, enabling closer connections to markets, products, customers, family, and friends that will benefit New England and Japan.
