Earlier this month, the Chamber announced the launch of its new internship website, “Chamber Intern Connect.” The website is designed to help increase talent retention in the Greater Boston area by providing a direct link between employers and students seeking internships. High-value, work-based internships can provide students with work experience and help local employers attract and retain more highly skilled workers. They also foster closer connections between students – many of whom are transient – and the local community.
The new website, located at http://www.bostonchamber.experience.com/, was created in partnership with Experience.com, a leader in online recruitment. Any member of the Chamber can post internship opportunities to the site, which is connected to a statewide internship website sponsored by the Commonwealth. Students can access the internship listings by logging into the site, which is being shared with local colleges and universities.
The Chamber applauds efforts by the Patrick Administration and Mayor Menino to retain college students and keep talent in the Commonwealth. Chamber Intern Connect was created because the Chamber feels more can and should be done by the business community and educational institutions to ensure this region has a workforce capable of meeting the dynamic needs of employers.
Chamber Intern Connect is the latest element of the Chamber’s Leadership Initiative, which already includes three programs designed to foster and train business leaders in the Boston area: Boston’s Future Leaders, Executive Leadership Institute, and the Women’s Leadership Program. More information on these programs can be found here.
