Boston's Future Leaders - Behind the Scenes

Earlier this week, the 2011 Boston's Future Leaders class had the opportunity to go "Behind the Scenes" at the World Shaving Headquarters of Procter & Gamble - Gillette. The program began with remarks from Chip Bergh, Group President, Global Male Grooming. Chip spoke about his experience as a leader within a global company and how the variety of roles that he has had within the company (various brands, locations, etc...) have shaped his career.

The morning continued with a session led by "the guy behind the Old Spice guy" - James Moorhead. James shared the story of how they have brought new life into a 70 year old brand through the use of unconventional methods. Their focus on knowing their customers and engaging with them was the key to the success of the Old Spice campaign.

The program concluded with representatives from R&D, Engineering Design and Product Design giving brief overviews of their functions and how they work together to create products. This was followed by a walkthrough of their highly automated manufacturing facility and the impressive office space.

Overall, participants were able to learn lessons from innovative leaders that they can take back to their own work and careers. And, of course we all learned more than we ever thought we would about razors and shaving!

Thank you to the terrific folks at Procter & Gamble - Gillette who put this together!
