President's Message on the Snow Emergency

Dear Chamber Members:

In response to today's snowstorm, Mayor Menino has declared a snow emergency that went into effect at 3 p.m., which impacts parking throughout the city of Boston. In addition, Governor Patrick has declared a state of emergency in Massachusetts.

According to the most recent reports, this storm could bring 18-24 inches of snow to the Greater Boston region by tomorrow afternoon with strong wind gusts. These blizzard conditions will make driving extremely difficult.

The Mayor is encouraging employers to allow those employees who are working tomorrow to arrive and depart on a staggered basis to avoid congestion on the roadways. The MBTA will be running normal weekday service on all subway and commuter rail lines, and public transportation is strongly recommended. The Chamber will continue to coordinate with the Mayor's office throughout the day tomorrow, in order to help facilitate a smooth and safe commute for employees throughout the city.
