- State shed 20,900 jobs last month; 2nd consecutive month of job loss and largest monthly job loss since Jan. 1991. State posted 0.7% job growth last 12 months, slightly higher than U.S. rate of 0.3%.
- State unemployment rate fell to 8.4% (lowest since May 09), steepest rate decline since tracking began in 1976. Mass. rate remains well below the U.S. rate of 9.6%.
- Only two of 12 regions added jobs last month; five of 12 regions added jobs year-over-year with strongest growth in South Coast and Metro West regions.
- Financial Activities (+1,300), Information (+500), and Professional & Business Services (+400) posted largest monthly job gains.
