Barney Frank addresses the Chamber

This morning, United States Congressman Barney Frank addressed more than 200 Chamber members at a Government Affairs Forum at the Park Plaza Hotel. In his speech, Congressman Frank detailed the need for financial regulation and told the audience that he expects financial reform to pass soon. He is expecting a bill to pass in the Senate and be signed by the president before Memorial Day. Congressman Frank also touched on the need to reduce the federal deficit. Among other suggestions, he spoke of the need to reduce military spending by 20 to 25 percent. Although he does not want to reduce funding for American soldiers in Afghanistan, he feels that America has overextended itself in the world militarily.
