Harvard President Drew Faust addresses Chamber

This morning, Harvard University president Drew Faust spoke to the Greater Boston Chamber’s Executive Forum. Faust discussed the adjustments being made by the university in order to maintain quality academics and keep expansion plans moving forward during this economic downturn. Faust noted the significant loss that the Harvard endowment suffered during the past fiscal year. This loss is especially damaging to the institution since 38 percent of the university’s budget is drawn from its endowment. Faust later discussed Harvard’s re-assessment plans for the Allston expansion given the economic challeneges the school continues to face. She did, however, emphasized the university’s lasting commitment to the Allston community.
