Chamber monthly jobs update shows loss of 2,300 jobs in MA

The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce publishes the monthly Massachusetts Jobs Update to provide public officials with a snapshot of regional and national job markets and trends.

The Chamber is currently working with business and government leaders to advance a policy agenda that will have significant impact on job growth and economic growth in the years ahead – including priority issues of corporate tax policy, skilled workforce development, and health care reform.

June 2009 Headlines:
  • Massachusetts lost 2,300 jobs last month; falls to 196,600 jobs below previous peak
  • All 12 regions shed jobs over last 12 months
  • State posted 3.2% job loss last 12 months; moderately better than U.S. job loss rate of 4.1%
  • State non-farm jobs ranked 22nd among states last 12 months
